Companies Achieve Greater Control and Flexibility Over How They Communicate and Collaborate WHITE PLAINS, NY-February 24, 2003—Communicator Inc, a provider of secure communications services to Fortune 1000 companies and cross-enterprise communities, has enhanced its Hub Messaging services. New features include expanded directory services, broader collaboration, alerting and embedded messaging and presence. This upgrade is immediately available in Communicator Hub IM™ 3.6, the company’s secure messaging and collaboration service. “Over the past year, the market for messaging has expanded and matured. However, truly effective business communications require the integration of identity management, cross-enterprise directories, presence, and content delivery along with messaging provided within a secure infrastructure,” said Gary Reifman, product manager for Communicator Inc's Messaging Services. “The trend will be toward true integration of the various modes of communication and collaboration, plus content access and delivery. Hub IM 3.6 is a significant step forward in delivering on Communicator’s vision of a broad communications platform that integrates communication with information and applications.” Communicator Inc specializes in providing communication and collaboration solutions that solve the business and technology challenges of the extended enterprise. Enterprises, and in fact, departments within enterprises, often have difficulty reconciling identities, customer records, and permissioning and authenticating user access to information across disparate systems. Add to this the challenge of cross-enterprise communications within “gated” communities, and it creates fundamental security and compliance issues that cannot be managed by any one of the participating organizations alone. Communicator Inc, through its federated approach to managed communication and information services, is uniquely positioned to deliver solutions that solve these problems. Expanded Directory The directory is the core of any communications application, and Communicator’s messaging directory features a unique, multi-enterprise federated structure. And, with 3.6 it now provides administrators and users more dynamic presence, search, communication choices and controls for setting up and managing company, cross-company and personal address book options. This is all accomplished while administrators retain full control over user authentication and access via existing company directories. Broader Collaboration Groups of up to 1,000 now have a more efficient way to hold online, real-time discussions, make more timely decisions and be more responsive to critical issues, with full access to information exchanged by all participants from start to finish. Forums are secure discussion channels that enable participants to create, track and conduct discussions over extended periods. Hub IM 3.6 adds Centralized Forums, which are designed to give companies centralized control over the creation, permissioning, and management of real-time topical discussions. Also new to 3.6 are notification options that allow users to personalize how they participate in Forums. All Forums, whether user created or centrally administered, are secure and auditable for regulatory and compliance purposes. Embedded Messaging, Presence and Alerts Organizations can now add real-time messaging and presence into users’ daily workflow by embedding Hub IM messaging within the applications or web sites they use most. Utilizing only a fraction of screen space, users have access to Hub IM’s messaging, collaboration and content delivery capabilities without having to juggle between their communications and other applications. Configurable alerts that unobtrusively notify users of key information and events are also now available in 3.6. Hub IM 3.6 is immediately available.
